MRS RONNA SATO

8TH GRADE , ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

My Name is Ronna Sato
I was born in California, but moved to Hawaii at the age of seven with my parents and younger brother. I completed my high school high education in Hawaii, graduating from Hawaiian Mission Academy. I received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in elementary education from Pacific Union College. My teaching experience includes ten years of teaching combination classrooms and eight years in single grade classrooms, ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade. I have also taught various subjects in middle school for 16 years. I hold a Seventh-day Adventist K-8 Credential as well as a Multiple Subject California State Teaching Credential, California CLAD certification, and California Middle School Single Subject Authorizations in English and Social Science. This is my 32nd year serving on the staff of Miramonte Christian School.

My Classroom Philosophy
I strive to help prepare my students to not only be involved citizens and leaders here on earth, but also grateful and joyous citizens of God's eternal kingdom. I try to spend as much time as possible in extending classroom learning to include opportunities for all students to practice their leadership skills and take further steps in their spiritual growth. In addition to the academic curriculum, I also try to spend time in helping
students perfect their organizational and study skills as they transition to high school. I also work to help students address the emotional and mental health issues of being a pre-teen and teenager, and I seek ways to nurture their resilience and flexibility in the face of the stresses that societal pressures create in their lives.

Why I Choose to Work in Christian Education
I enjoy working in the field of education because every day is different and unique. It is sometimes overwhelming to have the responsibility of nurturing young people toward success, service, and personal growth, but it is also extremely rewarding. I choose to work in Christian education because I believe that following in the footsteps of Jesus is the solution to one’s own personal mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles, but also the solution to the problems we face in our world today.
